July 30, 2007 Top Kart USA Remains Unbeaten

Team Top Kart USA headed to the fourth round of the WKA Manufacturer's Cup Championship at Beaverun Motorsports Complex after a very successful opening round of the Stars of Karting West Championship at Miller Motorsports Park where they took home three wins. Kyle Wiegand, Tyler Thomas, Chris Wehrheim, Sean Noonan, and the team's newest addition Conor Daly made the trip out with great success. The team also debuted their cost effective kart the "Bullet" in HPV Lite.

Chris Wehrheim who has always been one of the top 100cc drivers in the country had the best weekend of his 10-year karting career. Because of his team manager duties, Chris was only able to partake in two practice sessions on Friday, but this had no ill effect on his performance. In TaG Chris would capture pole position followed by Kyle Wiegand who is currently leading TaG points qualifying fourth and Conor Daly in sixth. Wehrheim would take a controlling win the Prefinal. In the Final, Wehrheim would lose the lead at the start, but would regain it just one lap later and control the pace their on out to take the win. Wiegand set the fastest lap of the race and finished third. He now has a strong hold on the championship. Daly would end up seventh on his debut with Team Top Kart.

Wehrheim would also compete in HPV Lite on Saturday and Yamaha Lite on Sunday. In HPV, Chris would steal pole position on the last lap of qualifying. After being pushed off track at the start of the Prefinal, Chris would end up finishing second while reeling in the leader every lap. The Final was an epic battle between Chris and two of his former teammates at Franklin Motorsports. After leading a majority of the race Chris was passed with the laps to go. On the final lap going down the front stretch Chris would retake the lead and hold on for his second win of the weekend. Yamaha Lite started off just as well with Wehrheim's third pole of the weekend. This made it three for three for pole positions. Unfortunately the race did not go his way with a third place finish, but this put him in better position for the championship hunt.

"This was a great weekend for the team as we are still unbeaten in TaG," stated Team Manager Chris Wehrheim. "We came out and won with our "Bullet" chassis straight out of the box showing that the Top Karts can win in anything from ICC to low horsepower 2 cycle classes."

In ICC, Kyle Wiegand and Sean Noonan were among the fastest all weekend and qualified third and fifth for Saturday's races. In the Final Wiegand would quickly move into second from his fourth place starting position. Going for the lead in turn one early in the race we would be forced down to the bottom of the track and taken out of the race. Sean Noonan would go on to finish fourth. On Sunday qualifying did not go as well for Wiegand with a sixth, but Noonan would put on an impressive lap to start third for the Prefinal. After making a few chassis changes, Wiegand would find the pace that he had on Saturday and drive

Next up for the team is the second round of the Stars of Karting East Championship in Shawano, WI where Matt Jaskol, Tyler Thomas, Brendan Phinny, Conor Daly, and Adam Johnson continue their pursuit for their respected championships.
